An Irvington ambulance was involved in a traffic accident that closed Sorensen Parkway Thursday afternoon.
It happened around 1 p.m.
Police say the ambulance was transporting a cardiac patient to the hospital. Its lights and sirens were on when the driver of a Toyota Camry ran the red light at 78th Street.
The driver of the Camry and the patient were hospitalized. The patient was in critical condition.
Three Irvington firefighters were taken to the hospital to get checked out.
