ATV registration to go before the Weeping Water City Council. The all terrain vehicle ordinance is expected to be similar to the utility terrain vehicle ordinance passed in September.
The Cassgram reports the operation of UTVs (John Deere Gator-type vehicles) on city streets had been a topic this summer at Weeping Water City Council meetings. The council then passed an ordinance that set up a permit registration process to allow for the legal use of UTVs on Weeping Water streets. There is a $25 registration fee.
According to the October city council minutes, several citizens were in attendance to present a proposal to allow for the use of all terrain vehicles within the city limits. The council then passed a motion directing the city attorney to prepare an appropriate ordinance allowing for the use of all terrain vehicles within the city limits for consideration at the November council meeting.
The UTV ordinance laid out the operating requirements and registration process, and established penalties for violations.
