An alert landlord helped Omaha Police arrest a man on weapons and drug charges after he shot up the inside of his apartment.
According to police report, the landlord stopped by the property near 32nd & T on May 24th. The landlord noticed several bullet holes through the front door, walls and window which appeared to be fired from inside the apartment.
The landlord knocked several times but got no response and called 911.
When police arrived, they looked through windows and saw a shotgun leaning against a wall and a two foot tall glass bong
The officers noticed the front door was unlocked and entered while identifying themselves as police officers.
While securing the shotgun, the tenant, 22-year-old Darontae Orduna and a 22-year-old woman emerged from a back bedroom.
The duo were placed in handcuffs. A search of Orduna revealed a baggie with suspected cocaine inside.
Orduna grabbed the baggie, tore it open and tried to insert the contents up his anal cavity.
An officer grabbed the baggie from Orduna, who then got up and ran toward the door. Another officer quickly took Orduna down
Orduna was able to escape again while being taken to a cruiser and a short foot chase ensued before he was re-captured.
Orduna told police two men kicked in the front door of his apartment earlier in the night. He grabbed the shotgun and began shooting at the men who Orduna said then ran away.
Orduna was booked for possession of a controlled substance, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of drug equipment, tampering with evidence, obstructing a police officer, illegally discharging a firearm and possession with intent to deliver cocaine.
