It’s National Puppy Day, a day to celebrate puppies and encourage adoption.
The Nebraska Humane Society has one puppy that's pending adoption right now. They say they do get puppies in often though if you're looking to bring one home.
Workers there say there's a lot of reasons to adopt a puppy. "Obviously there's the cuteness factor, but the fact that you can raise one with the manner you want ahead of time rather than having to adjust to an older dogs habits that they've already formed,” said Serena Mason.
Other shelters across the country celebrated the day on Friday, if they weren’t open on Sunday.
If you’re interested in adopting a puppy you can contact a counselor at the Humane Society. They say they get the most puppies in during the summer months.
The cost of adopting a puppy starts at $195 dollars.
