Cody Bostick says his wife fought hard for her life after being injured in a 27-vehicle wreck on Interstate 35 in Iowa during last Thursday's snowstorm. Twenty-seven-year-old Colby Bostick was four months pregnant with twins when she died.
The couple and their son became involved in the chain-reaction accident shortly after leaving their Clear Lake home heading to Texas to be with Cody's family. Toddler Easton was also hurt. Cody said he left his injured wife to get Easton to safety. She died before he could return.
Cody said the accident occurred when two 18-wheelers in front of them jackknifed. Other cars and trucks ran into them.
Forty-three-year-old Sheila Blood of Arkansas was also killed in the crash and seven others were injured. Poor visibility caused the chain reaction when drivers were unable to see vehicles that had slowed or stopped due to blowing snow.
