Omaha Police are investigating the city’s latest homicide after responding to a call to an accident scene.

Turns out the driver and passenger were both shot and trying to get to the ER when the crash occurred.

The victims were in the red vehicle which smashed into two parked cars on the BJ’s Gas Station’s parking lot at 42nd and Ames at 10 O’clock Saturday night.

Ofc. James Shade says, “Upon arrival they located two victims suffering from apparent gun shot wounds. Both of those victims were transported to Creighton in serious condition. One victim has since died of his injuries and police are still in the very early stages of this investigation.”

Omaha Police were searching the area around 42nd and Browne Streets; they believe that may have been where the two men in the red vehicle were shot.

The second man is listed in critical condition, their names have not been released.

Anyone with information about the homicide is encouraged to call homicide detectives at 444-5656 or you can remain anonymous and call 444-7867. You may also be eligible for a reward.
