An abandoned dog found walking in the middle of the highway near Ashland with a large tumor is now heading home from the veterinarian healthy and happy.
Channel Six was there as Coco was reunited with her foster mom, Misty Carter. Coco’s surgery was originally quoted to be a whopping $3,000 dollars, but then the community came together. Many people donated and another vet performed the surgery at a lower cost.
Veterinarian Mike Hord with Val Verde Animal Hospital in La Vista says he removed seven tumors. He is expecting Coco to make a full recovery.
Carter would like to thank everyone involved and said she’s excited to bring Coco home. “No words can ever explain how it feels. She’s been so amazing through all of it and she finally got what she deserved from the very beginning.”
