In what could be another sign the economy is improving, the number of elective plastic surgeries performed last year has risen for the second straight year.
The growth has been driven by minimally-invasive procedures, like Botox, soft tissue wrinkle fillers and chemical peels. Such procedures rose 6-percent in 2011. Cosmetic surgeries were up, too, by 2-percent. Breast augmentation, nose re-shaping and liposuction were the most popular.
A procedure popular with men -- chin augmentation -- nearly doubled in 2011. Popularity of lip augmentation also grew significantly.
