ADT Customer Can't Shake Double-Billing

For years, a single mother paid to keep her Omaha home and family secure but she recently learned that the cost of her security had doubled.

When Becky Ferris moved into her home three years ago, she put in an order for an ADT security system. She said the reason was, “not have to worry about intruders.”

But she says protection has cost her twice what she thought, with three years of bank statements showing automatic payments two times a month.

Becky says when she moved in 2011, a security system crew came and removed a piece of security system hardware. It appears she's been billed for that previous address as well.

After a call to ADT three years ago, Becky thought the double bills stopped but she didn't catch that the second withdrawal soon returned, costing an additional $2,000.

“I want to find out where my money went,” she said. “And I would like it back.”

She hasn’t had any luck with a refund and she’s spent a good deal of time with a phone to her ear.

“I've been on hold a total of seven hours,” she said.

When customer service answers, she's left with more questions and frustration. She said, “I can't deal with this.”

Becky said she tried to stop the extra automatic withdrawal by closing and opening accounts, but it comes back. So while the security system has kept her safe, the intrusion into her bank account continues.

She said, “I just want my money back.”

After Fact Finders alerted the alarm company that we were looking into this, the company got in touch with Ferris and told her a reimbursement for 36 double payments was coming her way.
