The AAA Fuel Gauge reports a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline was selling for $3.31 on Friday. Thursday the price was $3.27.
An Omaha spokesperson for AAA, Rose White, says gasoline prices statewide have increased 13-cents in the last week.
White says based on commodity pricing Friday, especially as it concerns the market price of unleaded gas, there is an expectation that consumer prices could hit $3.52 a gallon in the next few weeks.
White says a couple of things that might slow or reverse the price trend are 1) OPEC’s promise to adjust supplies to avoid shortages and/or 2) any decision by the Federal government to release supplies from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
She says the government has released oil from the reserve 16 times in the past.
