A former west Omaha hot-spot has neighbors worried it could go up in flames. The closed Oriental restaurant turned Nico nightclub is an eyesore in the Old Mill area.
A city inspector found an unsecured hazard with a door left unlocked.
The Nico nightclub closed years ago and an investment groups based in Utah bought the property in June for about $2 million.
But business neighbors who hoped for demolition by now see deterioration.
Bennett Ginsberg of CBRE/MEGA says, "It's just a dump and you're out here with the new TD Ameritrade HQ being built and there's a lot of redevelopment here and to have this thing sitting here shouldn't happen."
The city sent the owners notice of code violations that must be addressed by mid-January.
A spokesman for the investment group said they've had a hard time securing the building but have done the best they can.
He tells Fact Finders demolition should take place in the next three weeks.
A 11O-room Hampton Inn is planned for the site.
Also ornate fixtures and unique roof tiles have been sold -- raising about $6,000 for an yet to be selected charity in the Omaha area.
