An escapee on the lam is back in custody thanks to his sweet tooth.
Members of the Fugitive Task Force cornered 27-year-old Corey Smith at a donut shop near 72nd and Jones in Omaha Friday morning. Smith tried to drive away after ramming an unmarked cruiser, but didn't get far by going over a curb and disabling his car. Officers used a Taser on him.
Nobody was hurt and damage to the cruiser was minimal. Smith was doing time for theft when he walked away from work release.
