A Magnetic Solution To Flat Tires

Magnetic solution to road debris. Travelers on gravel roads can probably count on fewer trips to the tire repair shop.

The Cassgram reports magnets placed on road graders work …to the extent that a couple big buckets have been filled with nails and other metal debris in just over a month. Magnets are mounted on four graders.

Roads Superintendent Lenny Thorne said the magnets cost just over $200 each. Plans are to equip four more graders with magnets.

A newspaper article on the magnets in use on Lancaster County roads caught the eye of the Cass County Roads Department and the local department decided to give them a try. County Commissioners said anything that helps out citizens is a good investment on the county’s part.
