In Gretna Thursday, 250 employees from DaVita Kidney Care spent the day giving back.
The volunteers pulled weeds and cleaned up the grounds of HETRA, the Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy.
Employees say they wanted to do something meaningful for the non-profit.
Maggie Anderson, with DaVita Kidney Care, said, "I was talking with the woman who runs it who said that having 400 people here means a lot more than even the money because pulling weeds and painting fences, they need people to do it. It worked out really well."
HETA came to DaVita’s attention through one of DaVita’s team members who has a child who benefits from the horse therapy .
