If you saw your breath Thursday morning, it's little wonder as the Heartland got off to a very chilly start. Morning lows plummeted into the 30s and in some cases even the upper 20s. Omaha officially bottomed out at 38 degrees.
Although Omaha was nowhere near the record, no doubt your furnace did kick on a time or two. The record for this date is 18 degrees set in 1976, compared to the normal evening low for the middle of October, which should be near 41 degrees.
Get used to the nippy weather as morning lows for the next few days will once again dip into the 30s.
