Update: Injured RAGBRAI Rider Dies
Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa A Waverly, Iowa man who suffered a head injury during the RAGBRAI bicycle tour on Thursday died Friday.

A Waverly, Iowa man who suffered a head injury during the RAGBRAI bicycle tour on Thursday died Friday.
Stephen Briggs was 68. Hospital officials confirm he died at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
Briggs was riding in a group south of Charles City when he clipped the tire of the bicyclist in front of him and was thrown off.
His daughter Sharon Moore says doctors attempted surgery, but there was too much swelling around his brain. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
She says Briggs loved riding his bike, loved RAGBRAI and was an experienced rider. He'd ridden the entire RAGBRAI route across Iowa five times and parts of the route at least five more.
Briggs had retired from 40 years in the printing industry.
