Winning Baseball Coach Out Of A Job

A longtime Nebraska college baseball coach is out of a job.

Bellevue University confirms for Channel Six Sports that Mike Evans has resigned effective August 31 -- which is the end of his contract.

Evans tells Channel Six Reporter Mike McKnight that on advice of his attorney, he cannot comment.

Evans won more than 900 games in 22 seasons at Bellevue University, including a NAIA National Championship in 1995.

However, sources say Evans and the school's athletic department have been in a dispute over who is to blame for a transfer error that forced the team to forfeit most of its games this past season.

Evans would not comment on any reasons for his resignation. A Bellevue University spokesman would only confirm the coach had resigned.
