Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle was among the patrons enjoying a drink past 1 a.m. Thursday for the first time ever in the city.
Suttle arrived at the Dundee Dell just after midnight and enjoyed a couple of drinks while working the room. He even accepted a shot bought for him by a man at the bar.
The new law extending bar hours went into effect Thursday. Suttle says there are now only two states left that do not allow bars to stay open past 1 a.m.
Bar patrons must finish their last drink by 2:15 a.m. Mayor Suttle didn't make it that far, leaving just after 1.
