Closed Tanning Salon Burns Customer

Tiffany Ortega went to Planet Beach near 180th and Q for a tan but left feeling red. Three weeks after paying $100 for a tanning package she found the doors locked and a closed sign on the door.

Tiffany said, "Somebody could have told me when I paid for the tans that we're closing and maybe you should only buy five tans instead of 50."

Planet Beach has been cleaned out. The sign on the door doesn't have a phone number for frustrated customers to call. It only has an apology writing in small print. "Sorry for any inconveniences."

The Better Business Bureau has been unable to reach the owner of Planet Beach. The BBB has received complaints form two customers.
BBB President Jim Hegarty said, "The concern consumers are expressing to us is that surely the company must have known they were going out of business yet continued to sell tanning packages.."

The Bureau will continue to attempt contact with the owner to help out customers like Tiffany who are still holding unused tanning sessions.

Planet Beach is located in strip mall in southwest Omaha. The landlord said the owner was paid up on rent. However the landlord said the business owner indicated the new federal tax on tanning salons could put the business at risk.
