Plattsmouth Fire Chief Mike Wilson received the 2010 Public Servant Award from the Greater Omaha Chapter of the National Safety Council. “Inspired by former Omaha Mayor Bernie Simon, this award recognizes a public servant who demonstrates outstanding leadership on or off the job for the safety and health of individuals and/or the community,” says the safety council.
The Cassgram reports Wilson has served as chief for most of the last five years and before that was assistant chief.
Besides responding to about 90% of the fire calls, Wilson spent countless hours in helping the city through the emergency medical services assessment process in the last couple of years. He says the award is a reflection on all the fire and rescue volunteers and everyone that helps. “There are so many volunteers that are just as deserving,” said Wilson.
