Early morning crash sends two to the hospital.
The Cassgram reports Cass County sheriff's deputies, the Nebraska State Patrol and Murray Fire and Rescue responded to the two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 75 and Murray Road about 4:30am Sunday.
Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann says a 1998 Dodge Dakota driven by Bryan Peterson, age 23, of Nebraska City, was southbound in the northbound lane of Highway 75. Peterson's vehicle collided with a 1986 Ford Bronco driven by Gary Parsons, age 22, of Plattsmouth who was turning northbound onto Highway 75 from Murray Road.
Deputies were advised by Peterson that he believed he had fallen asleep somewhere around Waverly Road, about a mile north of the accident scene.
Parsons and Peterson were both transported by Murray Rescue to Creighton Medical Center with injuries. A spokeswoman said this morning there is “no release of information” on both patients.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Alcohol is believed to be a factor, said Brueggemann. The investigation is ongoing.
