The mayor of Plattsmouth has filed a claim against his own city.
Mayor Paul Lambert submitted a $6,205 claim for driveway and retaining wall damage to his home property he says was caused by storm water running into and under the street.
The letter said the problem has been ongoing for at least two years, despite two separate attempts by the city to fix the problem.
The Cassgram reports Lambert’s submittal included a repair invoice showing concrete work, excavation, rock hauling, retaining wall replacement and drainage tile costs.
The city’s engineer took a look at the problem in April and offered recommendations on what inspections and steps should be taken.
The claim went before the City Council this week. The mayor left the room in case the council wanted to discuss it. The council immediately referred the claim to the city’s insurance company with no comment.
