Despite weather delays last week, farmers across Nebraska hit their feilds hard last week and have now planted half of this year's cornfields.
A report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture says 48 percent
of the expected corn acreage had been planted by Sunday. That's
well ahead of the 37 percent average by this date.
The USDA says 93 percent of the oat acreage has been planted,
ahead of the 91 percent average by this date. And 8 percent of the
state's soybean crop has been planted, twice the average by this
date.
About 74 percent of the wheat crop rated in good or excellent
condition, the same figure as last week.
