One teenager is dead and two others are recovering from injuries following a Tuesday night traffic accident. Authorities say that 17-year-old Grace Lee died in the crash that happened about 10:30 p.m. near 168th and Monroe.

Police say a car with five teenage girls in it went through a stop sign at the intersection and their car was hit broadside by a pick-up truck.

Two other passengers in the vehicle were injured. Crystal Fehr is in serious condition. Lindsey Allen was treated and released. Ashley Clementson was not hurt. The driver, 17-year-old Chelsea Baudler, also escaped injury.

All of the girls in the car attended Millard West High School.

Millard schools spokesperson Amy Friedman says Miss Lee, "was an incredible young lady. She was very well liked. Teachers loved her, students loved her. She will be so missed."

School officials also say that Grace Lee was also very talented and they say that her artwork will keep her spirit alive for years.

Friedman says, "Out of all of the artists in the metro who submitted artwork, hers was chosen for the poster of the Summer Arts Festival. I don't think she knew it but two of her posters were selected for the highest honor by the Summer Arts Festival."

According to investigators with the Douglas County Sheriff's Department, the car that the girls were in rolled through a stop sign and was hit by a pickup truck. Authorities say that the driver, Ms. Baudler, was distracted by something that fell on the floor.

The accident happened on a stretch of road that has not grown with the area. There is heavy traffic for a two lane road.

Counselors were at Millard West for most of the afternoon Wednesday to help students cope with news of the accident.
