24-year-old Johnathen A. Adams of Plattsmouth pled guilty to a misdemeanor on Monday, originally he was charged with a felony for failing to register as a sex offender in Nebraska.
In January of 2007, Adams had received 1 to 2 years in the Nebraska Department of Corrections on a conviction of First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child (a female), a Class II Felony. Plattsmouth Police had arrested Adams in July of 2006 after several weeks of investigation.
The Cassgram reports Adams moved to Indiana after serving his time and registered as a sex offender there, said Julie Bear of the public defender’s office. He returned to Plattsmouth last September and a Plattsmouth Police officer had contact with him three weeks later. It was determined Adams had not re-registered upon his return to Nebraska and he was charged.
Those required to register on the sex offender registry have five days to do so after changing addresses
