Volunteer Firefighters Busy

Numerous fire calls in Cass County over the weekend.

The Cassgram reports Murray Volunteer Fire and Rescue personnel were called to a structure fire this morning just before 7am. A trailer home behind the 75 Mart (northeast of the Highway 75/Rock Bluff Road intersection) was on fire.

After several minutes, firefighters learned no one was inside the structure.

The state fire marshal’s office is assisting with the investigation.

Volunteer firefighters and equipment from Weeping Water, Manley, Louisville and Cedar Creek were involved in extinguishing a field fire Saturday. Cass County Sheriff’s Office call logs show units were dispatched about 11:15am to 12519 120th Street. The last trucks left the scene about 1pm.

The sheriff’s office dispatched deputies and fire/rescue units to two car accident reports that involved injuries. (No further information was available at print time on the accidents.)

One was at 3am Saturday at 160th and Adams. Eagle Fire and Rescue and Alvo Fire responded.

The other was at 12:50pm Sunday on eastbound Interstate 80 near mile marker 426. Greenwood and Ashland fire and rescue departments responded.
