Today Mal and the ladies of LVCmag.com are back with another segment for their health and fitness challenge, this week looking at the benefits of resistance training. Our expert fitness trainer is Erin.
Erin says, "Resistance training truly is for every woman as we age our metabolism starts to slow down and through resistance training we're building that muscle up just through a little definition and strengthening and we're actually boosting our metabolism. "
She says, "The best thing that I can recommend for you is between 6 to 15 repetitions 3 to 4 sets a day. Cardiovascular exercise tends to eliminate if you will your muscle. And we can burn a lot of calories during the exercise through cardiovascular exercises, however when you're done with the exercise you really kind of stop that calorie burning in a sense. When you do your resistance training you're boosting that metabolism, you're burning a lot of calories and then 6, 7, 8 hours later, 12 hours later you're still burning those calories because our muscles are always functioning."
