Assistant Chief takes another position. That means the City of Plattsmouth will have openings in the top two posts in its police department.
Assistant Police Chief Brad Kreifel will be returning to work in Afghanistan. He had taken an unpaid year’s leave of absence from the Plattsmouth PD to work as a training officer in Afghanistan starting in October of 2008.
The Cassgram reports Kreifel will be leaving his Plattsmouth position around June 1st, about the same time Police Chief Brian Paulsen leaves to be the police chief in Yankton, South Dakota.
Kreifel obviously figured to be in the mix to replace Paulsen and likely would have been the acting chief while Plattsmouth went through the civil service process of hiring a new chief. “It was a tough decision” with the opportunity here, says Kreifel, “but I love what I’ll be doing over there.”
