Road Improvement Could Lead To Development

******

The Cassgram reports Church Road bids come in considerably under projections.

The build-up and paving of Church Road from Highway 63 to Highway 6 has received solid support from all five Cass County Commissioners over the last several months, and that was with engineers estimating the cost to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $2.3 million.

Six bids were opened Tuesday. They ranged from a high of $1.73 million to a low of $1.39 million.

In supporting the project, commissioners pointed to the traffic—especially heavy truck traffic—on the three-mile stretch of road, and to the possibilities for economic development in that area along Interstate 80.
