A 25-year-old Omaha man will serve his Cass County sentence for theft concurrently with a sentence in Douglas County. The 24 month to 36 month sentence in Douglas County was for the man’s fourth driving under the influence conviction. The DUI arrest occurred about two hours after Michael Evezic stole a pickup from the Django’s Pub (Tiki Time) parking lot at Beaver Lake last October.
The Cassram reports Evezic pled guilty to the Class III Felony and the prosecution dropped a driving under suspension charge as part of the plea agreement. The case went to sentencing immediately after the plea was entered as the prosecution and defense had previously agreed to the concurrent sentence.
Evezic is to pay $440 in restitution. There was no damage to the truck but the victim said some items of value were missing from the 1999 Dodge Dakota.
