Recruiting underway for CASA volunteers.
The Court Appointed Special Advocates for children program is in its third year in Cass County and the need for more advocates continues to grow. CASA currently has children on a waiting list.
“CASA volunteers are well-trained volunteers from the community who speak in court for the best interests of abused and neglected children,” says the Nebraska CASA web site. “Children helped by CASA volunteers include those for whom home placement is being determined in the juvenile court. All of the children are victims of abuse and neglect.”
CASA training happens once a year. The next class begins this month, says Cass County CASA Executive Director Kim Carrera.
