With snow falling Friday evening, once the temperatures dropped some icy problems popped up on metro area roads. For a time, Sarpy County was getting calls for accidents on many of its bridges, like the overpass at Highway 370 and 25th Street.
In the span of several minutes, there were four to five accidents in the eastbound lanes of Highway 370. Deputies had to close those lanes in order to clean up the crashes.
Erika Dukes of Plattsmouth waited on the bridge for police to direct her where to go. The passenger side of her car was dented up after she slammed into another vehicle. "We saw the cop cars so we started slowing down and moving over to the other lane and we just completely lost control, that's how slick it was and hit the car that had already been hit before us."
No serious injuries were reported in the wrecks. A salt truck was able to make a pass over the bridge within an hour.
In Omaha, police stopped responding to accident reports at about 9:30 Friday night, unless there were injuries involved.
