A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Nemaha County in Nebraska until 5 p.m. and eastern Fremont, southeastern Mills, southern Montgomery and Page counties in Iowa until 5:15 p.m. Sunday.
A stricker snow removal law is now on the books in Weeping Water, Nebraska.
The mayor and council members had directed a new ordinance be drawn up after problems with vehicles on streets hampered snow removal efforts after this winter’s big snowstorms.
The Cassgram reports the previous ordinance dealt mainly with no parking on designated snow routes. The new ordinance prohibits “the parking of any vehicle on the public streets of the City of Weeping Water at any time within 12 hours after a snowfall of three inches or more within a 24-hour period, if the snow has not been removed within that time.”
The ordinance carries penalties for non-compliance.
