St. Patty's Day Enforcements Net 37 DUI Arrests

As part of a grant funded by the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety, additional officers hit the streets on St. Patrick’s Day, in an effort to detect impaired drivers.

28 extra Omaha Police Officers covered a 20-hour time frame on St. Patrick’s Day throughout the entire city.

Here are the results from the Omaha Police Department:

Driving Under the Influence: 30 arrests

DUI First Offense (25)

DUI Second Offense (3)

DUI Felony Offense (2)

Refusal Breath Test: 1

Open Container: 4

Speeding: 166

Registration / Insurance Violations: 43

Moving Violations: 33

Seatbelt Violations: 13

Careless Driving/Negligent Driving: 2

Reckless Driving: 1

Driving During Suspension: 10

Minor In Possession of Alcohol: 2

Possession Marijuana Less than One Ounce: 3

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office also had extra patrols, courtesy of the Nebraska Office of Highway safety.
