As part of a grant funded by the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety, additional officers hit the streets on St. Patrick’s Day, in an effort to detect impaired drivers.
28 extra Omaha Police Officers covered a 20-hour time frame on St. Patrick’s Day throughout the entire city.

Registration / Insurance Violations: 43
Moving Violations: 33
Seatbelt Violations: 13
Careless Driving/Negligent Driving: 2
Reckless Driving: 1
Driving During Suspension: 10
Minor In Possession of Alcohol: 2
Possession Marijuana Less than One Ounce: 3
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office also had extra patrols, courtesy of the Nebraska Office of Highway safety.
