Snow that once looked all fluffy and white is now dirty and trashy and as it melts, it means more work for us.

What was once pristine, is now dirty and full of trash, from old car parts to love notes, the melting snow is leaving behind piles of trash. If you threw something out the window, or threw a candy wrapper into the wind expect to see it again as the snow melts.

"The heavy stuff goes to the bottom. I think when it melts you'll find cardboard, cigarette wrappers, cans, sod, pieces of mailboxes; where there's been an accident I've noticed hubcaps and pieces of bumper. We're expecting quite a bit of debris after the melt," says Fred Thole with Omaha Public Works.

If you think there's a lot of debris under snow piled up in yards or along the street, you cant imagine what is under the mountain of old dirty snow near 20th and Nicolas streets.

It's one of the piles the city of Omaha puts together when workers take snow off of city streets. This pile sits higher than some homes in the area, people like Gerald Harris say there could be a fortune under this mountain.

"There's no telling what they scrape up the city off the ground there's a lot of stuff under there after it melts, years ago transients used to mingle around and find money day after day."

The city will come back and clean up their piles after the snow melts, to make sure nothing gets into creeks and sewers.
