More problems for Bellevue Police at Rumors Lounge. Officers have been documenting what goes on at the popular night club.
And they're ready to take their findings to the State Liquor Commission.
Bellevue Police began visually documenting Rumors at closing time.
Captain Herb Evers showed us the video.
"(On) February 28th, Saturday night. we had information that there was going to be a sponsored party there of some sort and so we set up some surveillance," Evers said. "Internal security had sprayed mace inside the building. Rumors security comes out and sprays more mace in the parking lot to get people to move on. There's a fight where a totally innocent female patron of rumors gets hit in the head and the forehead requiring stitches."
Captain Evers said a rescue squad couldn't get to the injured woman because there were so many people and cars blocking the parking lot.
"It was an overloaded condition and mix a bunch of party-goers and a bunch of alcohol and a late evening and we have trouble," Evers said.
In addition to the injury, Evers said two people were overcome with mace, four were cited for DUI and several traffic stops resulted in dozens of tickets.
There were similar problems on February 13th: four cited for DUI, a stolen vehicle was recovered, documented gang members attended the bar and several small fights broke out. A handgun was seized from the car of documented gang members and more traffic stops resulted in arrest warrants.
"We're expending a terrific amount of resources up there this particular night, February 28th there were 17 law enforcement officers from three different agencies up there," Evers said.
He believes the problems seem to stem from promoter-sponsored events.
There is another one scheduled for March 13th.
"So we're going to have the same thing that we had February 13th and now, 28th," Evers said.
Rumors Owner Bill Keown declined an on-camera interview, but said in a telephone interview this is the last such party he plans to schedule.
Keown said problems don't occur inside his establishment, but when party-goers leave the building, Evers said it becomes everyone's problem.
"It's a waste of tax dollars the way it is currently," Evers said.
Bellevue Police are sending reports and the video to the state liquor control commission in hopes that the state will pull the club's license.
Keown tells Channel Six News he will cooperate with law enforcement to eliminate loitering and shut down the parking lot when the bar reaches capacity.
He said waiting lines will be eliminated and alcohol service will end at 12:30 PM.
And there will be no more promoter-sponsored events.
