Officials from several Nebraska activist groups and labor unions are stressing the importance of public-service jobs.
They've scheduled a news conference for Monday afternoon to discuss a new report, "Putting Nebraska Back to Work: How Investment in Public Services will Save Jobs and Grow the Economy."
Organizers say the officials will discuss the importance of investments in public services, of incentives for small- and medium- businesses and of training programs.
The officials also are expected to stress the need for federal stimulus money already in the state to be disbursed and put to work helping Nebraska communities and small businesses.
