A Heartland woman tells Omaha Police her lost dog was actually stolen, and the woman who found him will not return the Schnauzer. Now the suspect says the dog has runaway.
The story starts back in mid February when the dog apparently ran away from its home in the Hanscom Park Neighborhood near 30th Avenue and Poppleton.
The dog's owner tells police she and others searched for the dog but could not locate him.
Then in early March she received a call from the Nebraska Humane Society telling her a dog matching the description of "Junior" was found by a woman named Sheri.
The victim says Sheri decided she not return the Schnauzer, and said she "didn't care" if the victim called police. The next day Sheri informed Junior's owner the Schnauzer she had found had runaway.
Junior's owner says the Schnauzer is worth $1,400.
