A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Pawnee and Richardson counties in southeast Nebraska until 3 p.m. Thursday.
A police dive team was called to Carter Lake Monday morning after a person spotted something unusual in the water. A vehicle antenna could be seen sticking out of the water.
Emergencey crews were not sure what they would find as they arrived at the scene. Divers determined the submerged vehicle was a pickup truck. There was no one inside it.
At midday on Monday it was not known if the vehicle was stolen and then ditched there, or if someone had experienced a real emergency and had then left the scene.
