A former office manager at Omaha restaurant Joe Tess Place has been sentenced to 12 months and one day in federal prison for writing unauthorized checks. Cynthia J. Jameson, 42, has also been ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $154,081.72.
Jameson worked for more than 23 years at the restaurant which is famous for its fish dishes. U.S. Attorney Deborah Gilg says she wrote company checks for her own benefit between March 2004 and July 2008. Jameson blamed the embezzlement on her gambling habit.
Once she serves her prison sentence, Jameson will be subject to 3 years of supervised release.
Omaha police and the U.S. Secret Service also participated with the investigation.
