A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Pawnee and Richardson counties in southeast Nebraska until 3 p.m. Thursday.
District Court arraignment is set for March 1st for a 32-year-old Nehawka man charged with First Degree Sexual Assault: Statutory (age 12-15), a Class II Felony.
The Cassgram reports Brian J. Kaluza waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Cass County Court on Thursday. He is currently free on $50,000 (10% posted) bond.
According to court documents, the prosecution alleges Kaluza had sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl in Nehawka last November.
A Cass County sheriff investigator’s report filed in order to obtain the arrest warrant says the investigation started with the Lincoln Police Department when the girl spoke of the alleged incident at school. Phone and text records were then obtained.
