A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for eastern Johnson, northwestern Nemaha and southern Otoe counties in Nebraska until 3:15 p.m. Sunday. A tornado watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Sunday for southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa, including Omaha, Council Bluffs and Lincoln.
19-year-old Joseph M. Neumeister of Plattsmouth was ordered to serve three consecutive one-year sentences in the Nebraska Department of Corrections.
Originally charged with felonies in the case, Neumeister pleaded no contest to three Class I Misdemeanors of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. All counts involved the same underage female. The incidents occurred last summer.
Special prosecutor Chris Perrone said the girl would sneak out of her house and Neumeister would engage her in conduct that contributed to her delinquency—including the use of marijuana on one occasion—and the two would be sexually active. These incidents continued even after the girl’s father told Neumeister to stay away from his daughter, said Perrone.
Neumeister entered the pleas as part of a plea agreement and asked for immediate sentencing.
The sentence is the maximum he could have received.
Cass County District Court Judge Randall Rehmeier termed the sentence suggested in the plea agreement as “fair and reasonable.”
