A once prominent Omaha real estate agent and former MECA board member is headed to prison. Kevin Irish was sentenced Monday in Sarpy County after pleading guilty last December to his fifth DUI offense.
Irish will serve 30 to 70 months in jail and must pay a $2,000 fine. Family and friends were hoping for a lighter sentence, but prosecutors said probation wasn't enough.
“At this point there had to be consequences for Mr. Irish,” said prosecutor Stephanie Hansen. “He continually got behind the wheel of a car after being drunk and at this point the only consequence that needed to be was prison.”
Irish had his license suspended for 15 years. He will be eligible for parole in 15 months.
