Omaha Killer's Sentence Upheld
The Nebraska Supreme Court has upheld the sentences of a man who killed a 21-year-old college student as she waited in a restaurant drive-through lane in Omaha two years ago.
In an opinion released on Friday, the high court rejected Kyle
Bormann's arguments that statements he made in a police car before
he had been informed about his rights should not have been admitted
as evidence.
He also had argued that a statement he made at police headquarters was the result of coercion and threats.
In late 2008, a Douglas County judge sentenced the 20-year-old
Bormann to 60 years-to-life for second-degree murder and 20-to-30
years on a weapons charge.
Prosecutors had argued that Bormann shot Brittany Williams
because she was black; Bormann is white.
