It's been said too many times in recent days - with so much snow, where do you put it all? One homeowner says, not in my backyard!
Jennifer Warta points out her garage to Channel 6 News. It’s on the other side of a six foot tall wall of snow. "It was plowed here from the Temple's parking lot," says Warta.
Believe it or not, the six foot tall wall is just a small part of what was originally plowed here last week from the Masonic Temple's parking lot just across the alley from Jennifer’s garage. At first, the entire alley was blocked by a gigantic mass of snow. Then Warta's husband called their city councilman.
Warta says, "and then the city came in with a front loader and scooped out so the alley was accessible, but still made it very difficult for me to get to my garage."
So Warta called the Masonic Temple to complain. A man returned her call and left this message: "I know that it was very inappropriate but the guy didn't think he had any place else to put the snow, so he piled it there.” And it's a snowy mess that's left Warta feeling the cold.
“It's really frustrating. Yesterday because of the cold one of our cars wouldn't start because we weren't able to, it might be a detached garage but it still keeps it warm enough that the vehicles will start."
Jennifer found out through the temple that it's actually the Max I Walker Cleaners across the street from the temple that had the parking lot cleared. Channel 6 News spoke with them and Keith tells us it's not just the cleaners but other businesses off the alley that dumped their snow in front of the Warta’s garage. Even so, we're told the company has decided to take care of the snow and have it removed.
