A York, Nebraska woman has pleaded no contest to attempted theft for withdrawing $4,000 that was mistakenly credited to her bank account.
Twenty-nine-year-old Linda Potter entered the plea on Tuesday in York County District Court. Prosecutors say Potter withdrew $4,000 from her Cornerstone Bank account in February, but a computer error credited that money back to her account. Potter again withdrew $4,000.
York County public defender Sam Bethune says Potter was awaiting the deposit of a stimulus check and a tax refund and believed that's where the money came from.
Potter's sentencing is scheduled for February 16th. She faces up to a year in jail and a fine of $1,000.
