A Lincoln teenager is facing a homicide charge for a collision that killed a 16-year-old girl last summer.
Sixteen-year-old Taylor Mortensen has been charged as an adult
with misdemeanor vehicular homicide. His next court appearance is
scheduled for February 16th.
Investigators say Mortensen's car struck the side of Emily Johnson's on August 22nd as she crossed Pine Lake Road after halting at a stop sign. Both drivers were taken to a hospital where Johnson died.
Prosecutors say Mortensen was driving over the speed limit or
driving "carelessly or without due caution."
A woman who answered the phone at Mortensen's home on Tuesday
identified herself as his mother. She refused to make any comment
or let her son speak to an Associated Press reporter.
