An Iowa man who shot himself while deer hunting continues his recovery from a leg injury at a Des Moines hospital.
Officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources say Ryan
Daniel Higdon was re-holstering a handgun Saturday while hunting in
Marion County. That's when Higdon's pistol discharged and hit him
in the lower leg. IDNR officials initially identified the 34-year-old man as Daniel Higdon.
A spokesman at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center says Higdon
remained hospitalized on Sunday. His injuries are not life threatening.
Iowa Department of Natural Resources spokesman Kevin Baskins
says the bullet passed through Higdon's calf.
