Husker fans were gearing up Monday for a trip from snowy Nebraska to the Holiday Bowl in sunny San Diego.

Saturday's game was still a day away when phones started ringing at AAA travel. Manager Linda Shanahan said, “well it even started on Friday , we had some calls to our office and people were saying we’ll go to any bowl, we don’t care.”

AAA is one of the area travel agencies selling package trips to the Holiday Bowl and they expect to sell out.

Monday morning the UNL ticket office had about one thousand $60 tickets left to sell. By early afternoon seven hundred of the tickets were gone and the ticket office expected to sell out the remaining tickets.

But not every Husker fan will be heading to California for the game. Linda Ramaekers and her family are big Husker fans but they will be in Papillion this year, not San Diego.

She says, “ we would love to go we love to travel in fact when we retire that’s what we want to do but right now we have a son in college another son going to college, it’s not in the budget. A lot of friends of ours have lost their jobs this year and I just haven’t found anybody yet who’s going to a bowl game, none of our immediate friends, no.”
