An electrical problem is being blamed for a house fire Saturday morning. The resident was awaken by a popping sound and was able to escape safely.
Crews called to the home near 41st and Wirt streets just before 3 a.m. found light smoke and tracked the fire to a faulty ceiling fan. The man who lives there said he was extremely lucky because he heard electrical popping as the blaze started.
What would he have done if he hadn't heard the noise? Would it have been pretty bad? "Yeah, it would have been, yeah, if I wouldn't have been awoke,” said Donald Jackson. “No fire detector in there.
No word on the amount of damage.
